چکیده

We report our transport studies in quasi-one-dimensional (1D) conductors-helical polyacetylene fibers doped with iodine-and the data analysis for other polymer single fibers and tubes. We found that at 30 K<T<300 K, the conductance and the current-voltage characteristics follow the power law G(T) proportional, Talpha with alpha approximately 2.2-7.2 and I(V) proportional, Vbeta with beta approximately 2-5.7. Both G(T) andI(V) show the features characteristic of 1D systems such as a Luttinger liquid or Wigner crystal. The relationship between our results and theories for tunneling in 1D systems is discussed.

Light Coupling in Polymer Nanofibers: from Single-photon Emission to Random Lasing

The understanding of the phenomena underlying the interaction of photons with dielectric, metallic and hybrid microand nano-structures and the development of advanced fabrication tools have paved the way to the realization of complex, nanostructured photonic structures, with tailored and exotic absorption and emission properties. Among such nanostructured materials, polymer nanofibers have intr...

Probing Spin-charge Relation by Magnetoconductance in One-dimensional Polymer Nanofibers

Polymer nanofibers are one-dimensional organic hydrocarbon systems containing conducting polymers where the nonlinear local excitations such as solitons, polarons, and bipolarons formed by the electronphonon interaction were predicted. Magnetoconductance (MC) can simultaneously probe both the spin and charge of these mobile species and identify the effects of electron-electron interactions on t...

Apparent Power Law Scaling of Variable Range Hopping Conduction in Carbonized Polymer Nanofibers

We induce dramatic changes in the structure of conducting polymer nanofibers by carbonization at 800 °C and compare charge transport properties between carbonized and pristine nanofibers. Despite the profound structural differences, both types of systems display power law dependence of current with voltage and temperature, and all measurements can be scaled into a single universal curve. We ana...

Rippling of polymer nanofibers.

This paper studies the evolution mechanism of surface rippling in polymer nanofibers under axial stretching. This rippling phenomenon has been detected in as-electrospun polyacrylonitrile in recent single-fiber tension tests, and in electrospun polyimide nanofibers after imidization. We herein propose a one-dimensional nonlinear elastic model that takes into account the combined effect of surfa...

Controlled continuous patterning of polymeric nanofibers on three-dimensional substrates using low-voltage near-field electrospinning.

We report on a continuous method for controlled electrospinning of polymeric nanofibers on two-dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) substrates using low voltage near-field electrospinning (LV NFES). The method overcomes some of the drawbacks in more conventional near-field electrospinning by using a superelastic polymer ink formulation. The viscoelastic nature of our polymer ink enables ...
